'Fantastic Beasts 2',' Instant Family' & 'Widows' Hit the Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend Frame

'Fantastic Beasts 2',' Instant Family' & 'Widows' Hit the Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend Frame
Last year saw the November box office top $1 billion in calendar grosses for just the third time ever and it was the first time since 2013. This year, November grosses are currently trailing 2017 by just -2.4% and this weekend sees the release of what is sure to be another big debut in the form of WB's sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The weekend also features the debut of what looks to be a strong opening for Steve McQueen's Widows while the PG-13 comedy Instant Family hopes to begin a long holiday run. Poised to finish atop the box office is Warner Bros.'s release of the second film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and there is a chance it could come close to matching the $74 million opening for its predecessor, though WB is remaining conservative with expectations hovering around $65 million. She’s a successful therapist, has a devoted husband (Grant) and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City. Overnight a chasm opens in her life: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.

"Veronica Mars": J.K. Simmons To Recur In Hulu Revival Limited Series

Oscar winner J.K. Simmons has signed on for a recurring role in Hulu’s revival of "Veronica Mars," from original series creator Rob Thomas. The eight-episode limited series is scheduled to premiere in 2019.

The reboot returns star Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni and Jason Dohring to the series that ran for three seasons on Upn and the CW from 2004-2007. In the revival, spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica (Bell) is drawn into an epic mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.

Simmons will play Clyde Prickett, an

There's a Jack Reacher TV Series in Development

There's a Jack Reacher TV Series in Development
It looks like Lee ChildJack Reacher book franchise in now being turned into a TV series. Tom Cruise played Jack Reacher in the two films produced by Paramount Pictures and while I thought he was great in the role and delivered two entertaining action-packed movies, we won’t be seeing anymore of them. The days of Cruise as Jack Reacher are over.

According to Childs, “We’re rebooting and starting over and we’re going to try and find the perfect guy.” For anyone familiar with the novels and the Jack Reacher character, then you know that Cruise didn’t fit the physicality for the role.

That doesn’t mean Childs didn’t like working with the actor, though. He told the BBC, “Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality,” and then noted that actor’s smaller size threw off some of the core fans:

“I really enjoyed working with Cruise.

Latin Grammys 2019: See Bad Bunny, Marc Anthony’s Fizzy ‘Está Rico’

Bad Bunny, Marc Anthony and Will Smith kicked off the Latin Grammys with their propulsive collaboration “Está Rico” in Las Vegas on Thursday.

“Está Rico” moves between gliding, airy passages and the hammering trap sound that has made Bad Bunny a star. In the track’s final third, a piano vamp nods to salsa, the genre that transformed Anthony into a household name. Smith functions like the track’s hype-man: As the recording comes to an end, he says, “you gotta play that again.”

He served a similar role in Las Vegas,

Does ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Have a Post-Credits Scene?
With the release of “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” we are now officially waist deep in this “Harry Potter” prequelverse. This prequel sequel is full of non-stop twists and turns, and drops some major bombshells that will reverberate throughout Pottermore lore.

And we’ve still got three more “Fantastic Beasts” movies on the way from director David Yates and series creator/screenwriter Jk Rowling. So, given the current trend of Hollywood blockbusters teasing future movies through bonus, post-credits scenes in the vein of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you might be wondering if “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” features some kind of look at the next movie hidden after the credits. You wouldn’t want to bail for the restroom only to miss such a thing, after all.

Well, if you’re in a rush to get out of the theater once the credits start rolling, I have some good news for you.

“Auditions are terrible. They really are,” the “Younger” star told Variety at New York City Center’s 75th anniversary gala, which included a performance of the Broadway audition musical “A Chorus Line.”

“I was auditioning for the revival of ‘Annie’ back in 1996,” Foster recalled. “I came in and the only sheet music I had was ‘Oklahoma.’ I had on horrible Velcro sandals because it was the ’90s. The director said, ‘I want you to come back.

‘Haunting of Hill House': Elizabeth Reaser on Why No One Realized Shirley Had a Special Ability (Video)
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “The Haunting of Hill House” Season 1.)

Theo (Kate Siegel) may be the one with the flashy psychic ability on Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House,” but she isn’t the only Crain child in touch with the other side.

Though you may have only seen a few scenes featuring Shirley’s (Elizabeth Reaser) foreboding sleep talking — which resulted in a few spot on predictions about Nellie and the Red Room — Reaser told TheWrap the family’s eldest daughter was gifted, like her sister. And the reason we probably didn’t learn more about her psychic connection was Shirley’s refusal to embrace anything that might keep her from feeling normal.

Cartoon Saloon’s ‘Late Afternoon’ Takes Tender Look at a Woman With Dementia

Cartoon Saloon, the Irish animation studio, isn’t afraid to take on challenging subject matter in its own unique way, as evidenced by last year’s acclaimed feature “The Breadwinner,” the story of a young Afghan girl who disguises herself as a boy to help provide for her struggling family during Taliban rule.

This year, the toon shop examines dementia in the animated short “Late Afternoon,” about an elderly woman who travels into her memories whenever she glimpses her reflection.

The short was something that played in the mind of writer-director Louise Bagnall, Cartoon Saloon’s creative director, for years. “It had been something I’d been working on for quite a long time, just in my own sketchbook, in my own small way,” she says. “I had been watching documentaries and reading up about dementia and it sparked a memory in me of when I was a child and
