Hulu to Develop Shows Based on George R.R. Martin Book Series ‘Wild Cards’
Hulu is developing multiple shows based on the “Wild Cards” book series, which is edited by “Game of Thrones” scribe George R.R. Martin.

Variety has learned from sources that the streamer is set to open a writers room for two shows set in the “Wild Cards” universe. Universal Cable Productions will produce along with Hulu, with Andrew Miller set to write and executive produce both projects. Miller, who is currently under an overall deal at UCP, recently helmed the “Tremors” pilot at Syfy that saw the return of the original film’s star Kevin Bacon.

Set in the present, the “Wild Cards” books explore the aftermath of an alien virus, released over Manhattan in 1946 that killed 90% of those it infected. In the survivors, DNA was altered, creating grotesque physical deformities, except for a tiny percentage who develop super human powers instead.

"Game Of Thrones:" HBO Confirms April Premiere For Season 8

It’s official. The anticipated eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" will launch in April. HBO released a promotional video Tuesday morning with no specific date, but official word that the series will return for its final go-round in April 2019. The retrospective video features recycled footage with the most iconic scenes from the series so far.

An April premiere is not a big surprise, since Season 1-Season 6 launched in April or late March; Season 7 premiered in July 2017. But until today, the only official time frame for the debut came from HBO programming president Casey Bloys, who said the series would return in the first half of 2019. Star Maisie Williams was more specific, saying in an interview with the UK’s Metro in January that the series was eyeing an April 2019 premiere.

HBO previously revealed that the final episode was shot over 55 nights in three locations.

George Rr Martin’s ‘Wild Cards’ Books to Become 2 TV Series at Hulu

  • The Wrap
Hulu is in early development on a pair of TV shows based on “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin’s “Wild Cards” book series.

The projects would create a shared universe on the streaming network, with Andrew Miller on board to write and executive produce two separate series. Universal Cable Productions, which bought the rights to “Wild Cards” in 2016, will produce along with Hulu.

Set in the present, the “Wild Cards” books explores the aftermath of an alien virus (dubbed the “Wild Card” virus), released over Manhattan in 1946 that killed 90 percent of those it infected.

In the survivors, DNA was altered, creating grotesque physical deformities, except for a tiny percentage who develop superhuman powers instead. Called the Wild Card virus, it has passed down through generations, and can go undetected until suddenly activated by a traumatic event — at which point the carrier is either killed, mutated or granted god-like powers.

‘A Star Is Born’ Dp Matthew Libatique on Lensing With Bradley Cooper
Shooting Lady Gaga revealing herself as a down-to-earth woman while lensing a rock star character Bradley Cooper was creating for himself were just two of the challenges facing Dp Matthew Libatique in the star-crossed lovers story “A Star Is Born.” The love story is screening at the EnergaCamerimage fest, competing for the main cinematography prize. Libatique confesses Cooper was so busy performing in his directorial debut that the Dp was often left on his own to decide on composition and shots.

You started your career working for Ed Lachman, a master cinematographer and perennial mentor here at the fest. Were there lessons from him that you still use today in your shooting?

The way I meter. He has this modified exposure zone system that he uses that’s not quite the Ansel Adams zone system. He sort of works in gray scale and total values so I meter very similarly to him – except he overexposes.

Disney in Talks With Hearst to Sell A+E Networks European Channels (Exclusive)

Disney is in talks with Hearst to sell off its interest in five European cable channels that are part of the larger A+E Networks joint venture between the companies.

Disney last week agreed to divest the channels as a condition of receiving approval for the 21st Century Fox transaction from the European Commission, the European Union’s executive arm. The regulatory review concluded that Disney would have too much market power in the lifestyle and factual programming arena by bringing Fox’s National Geographic Partners channels group together with its 50% ownership of A+E Networks.

Here’s What You Need to Know About That Talking Zombie on ‘The Walking Dead’

Here’s What You Need to Know About That Talking Zombie on ‘The Walking Dead’
(Spoilers ahead for the Nov. 11 episode of “The Walking Dead” on AMC)

It was not the most incredibly eventful episode of “The Walking Dead” this week, aside from the talking zombie that we’ll get to in a moment. But that was by design — with Rick out of the picture and a multi-year time skip occurring, the show needed a minute to establish the new status quo.

And the writers did exactly that by showing us Alexandria through the eyes of a bunch of new folks — Magna and her friends seeking asylum and the residents discussing whether to grant it.

But the episode also steered the show toward its next big extended plot line via a story thread that seemed oddly out of place at first. That thread involved Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) trying to use the radio to find more survivors, and Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt) going

‘Daredevil’ Star Deborah Ann Woll Has Some Ideas for Season 4 If Marvel Show Returns (Video)
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Daredevil” through the Season 3 finale)

Karen Page found herself in a lonely state of mind at the beginning of the third season of “Daredevil,” but according to actress Deborah Ann Woll, it’s been a journey “towards one of independence.” And that’s something she’d like to solve if the series returns for another season.

“Karen’s always been sort of a lonely figure,” Woll told TheWrap in an on-camera interview (above). At the beginning of the Netflix-Marvel drama’s third season, one of her friends is holed up with his fancy new job and girlfriend, while the other is presumed dead.

“With Foggy (Elden Henson) living the good life with this great job and wonderful girlfriend, and Matt (Charlie Cox) is ‘dead,’ Karen’s really on her own,” she said. “I think Karen thinks she deserves that, that because of

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is expected to earn $65 million from over 3,300 domestic locations, though industry estimates show that number could be closer to $75 million. The higher part of that range would be in line with the opening of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the first entry in the “Harry Potter” spinoff series. That film debuted with $74 million on the same weekend two years ago and went on to generate $234 million in North America and $580 million overseas. The second film carries a slightly bigger budget of $200 million, while the first outing cost $175 million.

Did Vince Gilligan Reveal a ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Idea 5 Years Ago?

Did Vince Gilligan Reveal a ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Idea 5 Years Ago?
As of now, what little we know about Vince Gilligan’s planned “Breaking Bad” movie suggests it will focus on Walter White’s reluctant partner-in-crime, Jesse Pinkman. And Aaron Paul certainly sounds up for revisiting the role.

In November 2013, Gilligan surmised in an interview with GQ that Jesse’s troubles may not have ended with the show’s finale. The “Breaking Bad” creator said that while he personally hopes that Jesse found peace after the show, he believed the “most likely outcome” for Jesse won’t be good.

Why do we think the “Breaking Bad” movie will focus on Jesse? In part because of the Albuquerque Journal‘s summary of the plot when it broke news of the film Tuesday. It said the “Breaking Bad” movie will “track the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.”

If you haven’t seen the “Breaking Bad” finale, go watch
